The characters in Bible stories are not all holy people doing holy things which we should replicate. The Bible is an honest book which reveals the nature of fallen people and the consequences of their sometimes-evil choices and actions. The Bible truthfully tells some horrible stories about horrible people doing horrible things.
“Go and do likewise” is NOT inscribed over every sordid tale.
Those who read the Scriptures with reverence and respect will distinguish between a Psalmist railing in frustration against God (e.g. Psalm 10:1) and Jesus teaching how His disciples are to live (e.g. Matthew 5-7). The former is not a model for my prayers but tells me God understands my frailty and loves me unconditionally even when I vent my emotional pain. The latter lays out how God commands His children to think, talk, act, worship, and relate. I am grateful for the former. I must embrace the latter as my mission.
Here’s some great advice: Read from the Bible every day. Interpret and apply the Bible with diligence and reverence.
